Flirting is a fun way to tell someone else you are interested in them, and to share a bit about yourself in a playful way. It can also be one of the most frustrated aspects of dating because you are trying to read the other person to find out whether your techniques are working. Flirting is also a great way to get to know a person and for them to get to know you.

Flirting can also build self-confidence and therefore, add to your sex appeal. Knowing how to do it effectively, however, can prove a little trickier because, after all, you don’t want to come on too strong. At the same time, not enough flirting can make you seem uninterested in the other party, so the trick is to establish a balance between the two that gets the message across in a positive way. Whether the goal of your flirting is just to have a little harmless fun, or to leave a good impression that could lead to a romantic relationship, there are a few helpful tips you might want to consider when embarking on that next night out.

Gaze, don’t stare. Eye contact is a great way to communicate openness and availability. While you don’t want to overdo it by staring, gazing will let the other person know you are interested in talking to them.

Smiling is another great way to flirt effectively. It gives the person with whom you are flirting an idea of your pleasant personality, and can also make you both feel more comfortable.

Don’t be afraid to move a bit closer when the opportunity arises. If you are standing too far apart, the other person might interpret this as a lack of interest. If you move a few steps closer, it will show you are enjoying the conversation and wish to keep it going.
