"There is a neighbour living next door in the block of apartments where I live and I kind of like her. Is she interested in me or just acts friendly?" Chances are, you have already heard something similar from one person or another. The thing is, every time a man falls for a woman, he has this very same question in mind. No man likes to be turned down by a woman, so before taking his chances he wants to make certain that the interest is mutual.

The question is: how do you distinguish when a woman is interested in you or just acts friendly, since even a simple smile may carry two different meanings? As it often happens, kindness and an outgoing friendly personality is mistaken as a sign of interest while in reality it is just a person's nature to behave that way.

Remember that there are many attention seekers who may simply enjoy your company but aren't actually seeking someone for a relationship. Most likely they will send you wrong signals that can easily be misinterpreted as a true interest.

So, here are a few things to help you differentiate between a true interest and a naturally friendly personality.

It is close to impossible to distinguish between friendship and interest if you meet a woman for the first time. If that is the situation you are in, then try getting to know a woman better and see how she interacts with other people. If she is acting with them in the same way she acts with you, then it might be a clear sign of her simply being friendly with you.

Another good way to see if she is truly interested in you is to give her an opportunity to spend some time with you. Do that and see if she grabs that opportunity of meeting you. It she does, then it might be a good signal that she is into you. If she does not, well, there is plenty fish in the sea...

Do you have a mutual friend who is a female? You could ask your friend to find out if the woman you are interested in (her friend) is into you. It is not a big deal for your friend to talk to her friend to find out what she thinks about you. If you get some positive feedback then it is a good sing that she is interested in you.

How often does she keep in touch with you? If she texts you, sends you emails or calls you on the phone on a regular basis then she is most likely interested in you. The point here is to see if she is looking for a way to spend more time with you.

Fixing or preening oneself are two good signals of a woman's attraction in a man. So, pay attention to how she acts when you spend time together.

Did a girl touch your hand when you said something that made her laugh? That is also a good example of someone's interest in another person.

Imagine this situation. You ask a woman out and suggest her a specific date and time but she tells you she is busy and does not come up with some other day to reschedule a date on. Does it mean she is interested in you? Most likely not. It's a clear signal that a woman isn't into you. Women make time for man they are into.

Hints and signals of a woman's interest in a man are numerous but it's impossible to say something for certain. If you like a woman and want to see more of what she is like then there is really only one way to see if she is interested and it is to ask her out. After all, as the saying goes: "If you never try, you never know!"
